Texan Karl Rove will tell Montanans how to vote...

It's obvious that Congressman Steve Daines (R-MT) is not going to let a large number of Montanans get under his skin over the television ads he has been running.

There is only one thing worse than an intrusive, obnoxious political ad, and that is a brain-numbing bevy of them!  Daines is not dumb.  So why can't he understand that there can be too much of a good thing?

Added to the annoyance is the attack on the president about what Daines considers the "biggest lie of all."  Is he running for president now?

Just when we think he may run out of money and ease up on these heinous endeavors, it is reported that the infamous Crossroads PAC  and its sinister caldron-stirring fiend, Karl Rove, have announced that they are prepared to drop a six-figure amount into Daines lap to ensure his senate victory.

We already know they won't stop there if, indeed, more is needed. Also, we must not forget the real deep-pocketed conservative crusaders known as the Koch Brothers!  There have never been a more unwholesome duo of dirty political dealings ever foisted on America .  They are billionaires who have never seen an election that couldn't be bought, and with the U.S. Senate races getting close this year, they will spend down to their last dime.

It all leads me to one simple question. Why should we let Texan Karl Rove and the Koch Brothers decide who our next U.S. Senator should be?

If it doesn't make you nervous...it should!

Meanwhile, across the aisle, candidate John Walsh has begun his television ads in a most peculiar way...he only talks about himself and why we should elect him - not why we should not elect his opponent.

Beyond the grasp of mere mortals

The Speaker of the U.S. House, John Boehner, has announced his reason why we shouldn't expect an immigration overhaul this year.

Perhaps we could see something in 2015, which you recall will be after the mid-term elections.  Of course, I draw no inference between these two events.

Everyone in the Speaker's corner will look straight into the television cameras and tell us in no uncertain terms that America needs to pass a more workable plan for immigration.  Off camera, however, they know full well that any proposal they come up with will look unkindly on their political candidates in the 2014 elections.

With all of this said, the most disturbing message from Boehner was the reason given for the postponement.  He, and his party faithful, simply cannot trust the president.

More specifically, his exact words were, "they don't trust the president on small things, so how can they trust him on a big thing like immigration?"

It is beyond my comprehension how not trusting the president can have anything to do with the U.S. House writing and voting on an immigration bill. Equally puzzling is the fact that no one else seems to understands that, either.

Maybe we aren't supposed to make sense of it.  Maybe it is a political equation that is meant to be understood by the wise and powerful politicians only.

We are, after all, but mere mortals.

America: the land of milk and money...

What a beautiful world it would certainly be, if money could simply be grown on a tree!

Any one of us could go out and harvest enough to buy our very own politician. We might even have enough to verbally trash any opposition candidate that gets in our way.  Money, you understand, is the great equalizer when you find yourself a little unappreciated on the voters' list of preferred choices.

Whoever said 'Money is the root of all evil' had it right.  When the richest of the rich dangles millions of dollars in front of a candidate for political office, we know this is not going to turn out well.  We're bound to get an elected buffoon who has already been told how he/she is going to vote on a host of important issues.

A great deal of this became 'legal' when congress was already stacked like cordwood with like-minded, bought-and-paid-for engineers of doom who changed the way money can be used in elections. The concept that 'corporations are people' began the ungodly march to political disaster and the more sane among us have been fighting the money moguls ever since.

The final count, however, is still up to each of us.

Do we vote for those who sold their souls- and representation -  to the deep pockets of the nation, or do we vote for someone who will represent us instead?

Yes...it really IS that simple.
